Terms of Service
Last updated: August 25, 2026
These terms govern your use of the PledgeIt iOS application ("PledgeIt", "the app"), operated by PledgeIt / Hakeemi ("we", "us"). By using the app you agree to these terms.
1. What PledgeIt is
PledgeIt is a self-accountability and habit-building tool. You create personal commitments ("pledges"), set aside a balance, and the app charges that balance according to your daily results: a small fee on days you keep your promise, and your chosen forfeit on days you do not. This is a commitment device based on loss aversion — a well-studied behavioral technique.
2. What PledgeIt is NOT
- Not gambling. There are no prizes, no odds, no games of chance, no wagering between users, and no possibility of winning money. You can only ever spend your own pre-loaded balance on your own commitments.
- Not medical treatment. PledgeIt is not a medical device, therapy, or treatment for addiction or any health condition. It does not provide medical advice. If you are dealing with addiction or a health concern, please consult a qualified professional — the app is a supplement to willpower, not a substitute for care.
- Not a payment or banking service. Balances are prepaid app credits used solely for commitment fees within the app. They are not deposits, investments, or transferable currency, and they earn no interest.
3. Fees and how they work
- Achieved-day fee: each day you check in as having kept a pledge, a fee (currently $10.00 per month divided into daily slices, ≈ $0.33) is charged to that pledge's balance.
- Missed-day forfeit: each day you check in as having missed, the forfeit you chose for that pledge ($1–$10) is charged to its balance.
- Free week: achieved-day fees are waived for the first 7 days of each new pledge. Missed-day forfeits apply from day one.
- Refills: balances are preloaded via In-App Purchase. Fees are drawn only from the balance you chose to put at risk.
- Fees are commitment fees for the service of accountability. They are non-transferable, and balances have no cash-out value.
4. Honest reporting
PledgeIt's value depends on honest check-ins. Check-ins are self-reported. We may introduce verification features (such as photo proof or screen-time evidence) over time, and you agree not to circumvent them or manipulate balances, streaks, or the ledger through unauthorized means.
5. Purchases, refunds, and cancellations
- All purchases are billed by Apple through your App Store account.
- You can stop using PledgeIt at any time: archive your pledges and no further fees are charged.
- Refund requests for purchases follow Apple's refund policies (reportaproblem.apple.com or App Store support).
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to: misuse the app, attempt to manipulate balances or ledgers, reverse-engineer the app, use it to violate any law, or represent PledgeIt as endorsing anything unlawful or harmful. We may suspend access for violations.
7. Health disclaimer
Pledges often involve health-related goals (exercise, quitting smoking, and similar). Consult a physician before starting any fitness or dietary program. PledgeIt does not guarantee any outcome; results depend entirely on you.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, PledgeIt is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential damages.
9. Changes and termination
We may update these terms; material changes will be announced in the app or on this page. If you disagree with changes, stop using the app and delete it. You may delete your data at any time (see the Privacy Policy).
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Contact for any matter under these terms: hakeemi5372@gmail.com
